Learning
At Windsor South Public School, learning is grounded in high expectations, strong relationships and evidence-based teaching. Our teachers use the Science of Learning and Explicit Instruction to ensure every child builds strong foundational skills in literacy and numeracy, while also developing critical thinking, creativity and confidence. We believe all students can achieve success when they are taught in a clear, supportive and structured way.
Across all classrooms, students engage in purposeful, well-sequenced lessons tailored to their needs. Our teachers use ongoing assessment and feedback to monitor progress and provide targeted support, ensuring every learner is known, valued and challenged. Through a caring and inclusive “Southie Family” culture, we create a learning environment where students feel safe to take risks, strive for excellence and reach their full potential.

At our school, students can take part in special religious education (SRE) or special education in ethics (SEE) classes, depending on what’s available. These classes are delivered by approved providers.
When enrolling your child, you’ll be able to choose an option from the approved providers offered at our school. Students not attending SRE or SEE are given supervised, alternative, meaningful activities.
You’re welcome to change your choice at any time. Just let us know in writing.
Christian SRE is provided by SRE teachers from different Christian denominations and Churches. The approved providers in this combined arrangement are Australian Christian Churches, Baptist Union NSW, Uniting Church, Anglican Diocesan of Sydney, Presbyterian Church of Australia.
The Christian SRE curriculum is authorised by Australian Christian Churches. The curriculum is based on Good News about Jesus Christ and learning the key elements of our Christian life and culture and can be found at https://www.iccoreis.asn.au/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Godspace-Combined.pdf. Christian SRE engages students in conversations as they question life, explore values and discover faith.
Catholic SRE teachers (also known as Catechists) are authorised by the local parish and trained by the Diocese of the Catholic Church.
The Catholic SRE curriculum is approved by the Bishop of the Diocese in liaison with religious education experts. Lessons include activities that are fun and inclusive for students, whilst also providing them the opportunity to critically explore in depth their faith and to pray and reflect. For more information about the Catholic SRE curriculum go to https://ccd.sydneycatholic.org/publications/curriculum-resources/

At Windsor South Public School, we are committed to recognising and extending students with high potential across the intellectual, creative, social–emotional and physical domains. Our teachers provide differentiated learning, enrichment tasks and targeted extension to ensure these students are appropriately challenged and supported to excel. We want every high-potential learner to be engaged, motivated and able to show what they can truly achieve.
Students have opportunities to demonstrate leadership, creativity and advanced social–emotional skills through programs such as the Southie Spirit Squad and Structured Play, where they support younger students, model positive behaviour and contribute to a strong sense of school culture. Additional enrichment opportunities—including problem-solving tasks, project work, creative arts extension and leadership roles—help students to deepen their thinking, build confidence and reach their full potential.
